Accessibility by public transport for older adults: A systematic review

Accessibility, the ease of reaching destinations through a transport network, holds great potential to help foster equitable and sustainable cities. Though equity analyses are often considered in accessibility studies, only recently have researchers begun consider older adults' access destinations. In context an aging population, this paper presents systematic review literature on using public transport. Our comprehensive identifies articles focused via published since 2000 (n = 16). Quality assessments indicate that work has little risk selection bias but could improve when it comes study design. The ways which measured vary greatly across papers, with regards not just metrics, also type used, modes considered, people conceptualized. This makes difficult draw conclusions studies accessibility. Therefore, we call for more research engages critical gerontology age-friendly city frameworks. Doing so should involve centering voices experiences into by, instance, asking them be thresholds used. practice, can achieved experience-based co-design approach or by actively out other methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups.
